Very excited to be announcing the Ginelle Wynter and Sarah Love will be our very first team captains for Murder of Crows Weightlifting Club and Murder of Crows Powerlifting Club, respectively!
For those of you who don't know Ginelle, you must be new to the club! Ginelle was one of the founding members of the weightlifting club back in 2013, and has been lifting ever since. Ginelle has already been helping out with substitute coaching, and is amazing handling athletes at meets. She is very welcoming and will make an amazing team captain.
Sarah joined us when we first opened the doors at Murder of Crows, and has been such an important pillar within our powerlifting community. Sarah has volunteered countless hours for events at the gym, and can always be counted on when a lifter needs help, whether it be judging depth, getting a spot, or just learning best practices within the gym and the greater powerlifting community. As a social worker, Sarah dedicates her life to the service of others. As a powerlifter, Sarah is fiercely dedicated to both the sport and her teammates. Sean is very proud and delighted to call her the teams very first captain, and she, too, will make an amazing partner to the gym!
Team Captain is an important roll for the club and as team captain Ginelle and Sarah will be accountable to the club in helping convey the wishes of the club to Sean, Kaleb, and I (Kurt). We hope to plan many social activities, and many inter-club joint activities. Ginelle and Sarah will be helping address issues of club members, making new club members welcome and to understand the rules and etiquette of the club, and to help out with organizing rooms, rides, and logistics for those big meet days (within reason, of course!). The term for Team Captain will be until the end of the year, and will be every 6 months after that. Please come up and congratulate them, and share contact information with them, so they can better help the club!
